Secret coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

4 Conditions must be met concurrently to be considered as a doctrine.

  1. Does scripture (OT) talk about it?
  1. Did Jesus do or teach this to the disciples?
  2. Did apostles teach this to the Church?
  3. Did the apostles mention this in their epistles?

Why not post tribulation: If the coming is at the end of tribulation, then we can calculate the time as the tribulation is for 7 years. Also, it is not a secret for the following 4 reasons:

1. At the end of the tribulation period, the entire Jewish community is looking at the one whom their pierced.

2. All the enemies of the Jews have focused to Jerusalem in order to cease Israel to be a nation.

3. All the media of the world is now focused to see what is going to happen.

4. Predators of the world is getting prepared for the great feast of the Lord.

Does scripture talk about it?

Isaiah 26:20  Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past.

Did Jesus teach this to the disciples?

1. John 14 1-4: Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.

2. Mark 13:32-37 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch, and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

3. Matthew 24: 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

4. Matthew 25: 06 And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ – Midnight here mean ‘spiritual darkness and means ‘secret.’

5. Luke 17: 26  And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man; Luke 17: 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot  – Jesus Is quoting 2 incidence from the OT to tell about the nature of his secret coming.

Did apostles teach this to the Church?

1. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord.

2. 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

3. 1 Thessalonians 5:02 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night

4. 1 Thessalonians 5:09 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

Did the apostles mention this in the epistles?

1.1 Timothy 6: 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

2. 2 Peter 3: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

3. Heb 9: 28: so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

4. Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
